What is Urachal Cancer

The urachus is a small tube behind the belly button that connects to the bladder and normally shrivels away after birth. A tumour growing in the urachus is difficult to see and sometimes presents itself through blood in the urine. This extremely rare form of cancer accounts for 0.2% of bladder cancers.

While most of the funds raised for cancer research go towards more prevalent cancers, as they should, 24% of cancer patients are fighting rare cancers – more than any single common cancer. And the mortality rate is higher and faster.

Mission

Our mission is to raise awareness, provide information, and advance research on urachal cancer.
